schools time & money: Moving Bodies has the flexibility
to fit into the school's schedule and minimise the direct cost
to the school. Ideally, as little extra administration as possible
is required, with timetabling and money collection being two of
our main considerations. Moving Bodies can also provide R.F.F. for
teachers every week. Our
goal: To put it simply, we want children to enjoy exercising
in the hope that they will continue being active throughout their
lives. Hopefully this will then lend them towards trying other
sports and physical endeavours. Safety:
We place a large emphasis on safety. Our
philosophy:
Our philosophy is to encourage, rather than force, children to
try new things. This creates a non-threatening environment and
seems to be the best way to improve their gross motor skills and
fitness. Teacher's
Packs: Class teachers are provided with extensive documentation
for their programs. The Teacher's package we provide outlines
the appropriate Stage Outcomes and Indicators. Student
assessment:
Students receive self-assessment record sheets designed to meet
the needs of each Stage. These are usually included in Student
Portfolios. An Individualised Outcomes and Indicators based assessment
system is provided. Equipment:
We bring along a large variety of equipment, both large (bars,
beams, mini-trampolines, airboards, parachutes and some matting)
and hand held varieties (bean bags, ribbon sticks, pompoms, foam
pieces and scarves). We can also utilise school equipment. Optional
Extras:
- Moving
Bodies can conduct elective lunch time classes. These lessons
allow for revision and extension on what the students are learning
in their 'normal in-class' program.
- Gifted
and Talented Display Groups are also popular, especially when
performed during Education Week.
- Most
of our schools offer 'Open Days'. This is where the parents
and friends are invited to come along and watch/participate
in their child's final lesson with us for the year. We have
found that this is a great way of maintaining support for the
program.
